CHIEFS KEEP ROLLING IN WIN OVER LANSING

Wednesday, June 6, 2012 • POSTED BY:  Paul Honeycutt Times Correspondent

HAMMOND | The Hammond Chiefs used five pitchers in a combined effort to allow just two hits and one run in their 5-1 win over the Lansing Redbirds on Tuesday night.

The Chiefs (5-1) struck first with two runs in the second after Michigan City's Andrew Ray and Andrean's Jeremy Briggs executed a rare double steal from first and second to put themselves in scoring position.

After a passed ball that scored Ray, Jonathan Vercimak plated Briggs on an RBI single.

Vercimak added another RBI single in a big three-run fourth for Hammond and finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, while Briggs added two runs.

T.F. South's Brian Seymour scored the only Lansing (4-2) run off of a double from Rebel teammate Justin Pasko.
