SEMINOLES MOVE TO 3-0 IN CABA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Hammond Seminoles (15-13-1, 3-0 in pool play) defeated the Illinois Redbirds in the Valparaiso University CABA World Series Qualifier 11-4 in 6 innings. Leading the way for Hammond was shortstop Corey Rusboldt (Chesterton). Rusboldt was 2-2 with a HBP, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored and 3 stolen bases. Brandon Roeske (Chesterton, 5-1) got the win going 4 1/3 allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 4 hits. Other contributors for Hammond included Alex Vode (Andrean, 2 hits), Jaylen Yarbrough (Bishop Noll, 2 hits, 2 stolen bases and a double), Frank Podkul (Andrean, 2 runs), Austin Vander Zanden (Chesterton, 2 hits, 2 runs and a double) and Matt Dvorscak (Whiting, 2-run triple). The Seminoles were 8-8 in stolen bases (Rusboldt 3, Yarbrough 2, Larry Crisler [BNI] 1, Kyle Buikema [Griffith] 1, Podkul 1).
