CHIEFS 14U CAPTURES MIDWEST BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS AT PORTAGE

GAME #1

Indiana Chiefs 14U lost the ballgame after losing the lead in the sixth inning Thursday, as Indiana Magic grabbed a 3-2 victory in six innings at Portage, IN.

Alex Dobrzeniecki was in control on the hill. Indiana Magic managed just two hits off of Dobrzeniecki, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his three innings of work.

Sean Roop got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out seven, walked four and surrendered six hits.

Neither team scored until the fourth when Indiana Chiefs 14U got on the board. Indiana Chiefs 14U scored on a passed ball.

Indiana Magic didn't relinquish the lead after scoring three runs in the sixth inning when it scored on an error and a two-run single by Matthew Olry.

GAME #2

Crete Cyclones and Indiana Chiefs 14U played to a 4-4 tie on Friday at Portage, IN.

Indiana Chiefs 14U took down Illinois Edge Columbia 10-2 on Friday at Portage, IN after slamming Illinois Edge Columbia with six runs in the fifth inning.

Mike Popp racked up four RBIs on two hits for Indiana Chiefs 14U. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Jason Lamont recorded the win for Indiana Chiefs 14U. He allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered three hits.

Indiana Chiefs 14U never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring one run on an RBI single by Ben Ostrowski.

Indiana Chiefs 14U added three more runs in the bottom of the third. Mike Madura kicked things off with a single, plating Joey O'Keefe. That was followed up by Popp's double, bringing home Justin Ruthrauff and Madura.

After pushing across two runs in the top of the fourth, Illinois Edge Columbia faced just a 4-2 deficit. A walk by Valentino Garfias and a hit by pitch sparked Illinois Edge Columbia's rally. Finally, Noah Davis induced an inning-ending ground out from Jordan Chavez.

GAME #4

Indiana Chiefs 14U jumped out to an early lead on NP Cougars and captured an 11-1 victory on Saturday at Portage, IN.

Eleven runs in the first three innings allowed Indiana Chiefs 14U to put the game away early.

A groundout by Evan Hylek in the first inning and an RBI single by Mike Popp, a passed ball, a steal of home by Will Kulcher, and a two-run home run by Nick Bandura during the second inning helped Indiana Chiefs 14U put some runs on the board early.

Bandura racked up two RBIs on one hit for Indiana Chiefs 14U.

Popp pitched lights out for Indiana Chiefs 14U. NP Cougars managed just one hit off of Popp, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during his three innings of work.

Indiana Chiefs 14U tacked on another five runs in the third. A passed ball scored Joey O'Keefe to start the scoring in the inning.

GAME #5

Both Indiana Chiefs 14U and the Triple Crown Titans put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was Indiana Chiefs 14U that was able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-4 win at Portage, IN.

The Triple Crown Titans had nine hits compared with Indiana Chiefs 14U's six, but the Triple Crown Titans stranded eight runners on base.

Indiana Chiefs 14U staved off the Triple Crown Titans as the Triple Crown Titans were unable to match Indiana Chiefs 14U down the stretch.

The Triple Crown Titans scored three runs in the sixth on two errors. Despite their efforts, the Triple Crown Titans couldn't finish the comeback.

Mike Popp reached base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the second inning.

Ben Ostrowski recorded the win for Indiana Chiefs 14U. He allowed one run over five innings. Ostrowski struck out four, walked none and gave up eight hits.

The top of the first saw the Triple Crown Titans take an early lead, 1-0.Dennis Collier kicked things off for the Triple Crown Titans with a double. A single by Eric Mularski then moved Collier from second to third. Jake Jonessingled, bringing home Collier.

The lead stayed with Indiana Chiefs 14U after the third, when it scored one run on an RBI single by Evan Hylek.

Indiana Chiefs 14U added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth. A single by Hylek ignited the offense,, scoring Mike Madura.

GAME #6

Indiana Chiefs 14U shut the door early on Illinois Edge Columbia, capturing a 13-0 victory on Sunday.

The game was decided quickly as Indiana Chiefs 14U exerted its will early with eight runs in the first three innings.

A two-run error and a walk by Will Kulcher during the second inning fueled Indiana Chiefs 14U's offense early.

Indiana Chiefs 14U was led by a flawless day at the dish by Ben Ostrowski, who went 3-3 against Illinois Edge Columbia's pitching. He singled in the second, third, and fifth innings.

Mike Madura brought the heat against Illinois Edge Columbia during his outing. Madura gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Indiana Chiefs 14U pushed across five runs in both the third inning and the fifth. In the third, Indiana Chiefs 14U scored on an RBI double by Noah Davis, bringing home Mike Popp.

Indiana Chiefs 14U added five more runs in the top of the fifth. Madura kicked things off with a single, scoring Alex Dobrzeniecki. That was followed up by Popp's single, plating Nick Bandura and Jason Lamont.

Indiana Chiefs 14U blew out Illinois Edge Elite 19-4 on Sunday at Portage, IN after pouring on 12 runs in the second inning.

Joey O'Keefe boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace Indiana Chiefs 14U. He singled in the first, second, and third innings.

Alex Dobrzeniecki got it done on the bump on the way to a win. He allowed four runs over three innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered six hits.

Indiana Chiefs 14U pounded Illinois Edge Elite pitching, as seven hitters combined for 13 hits, 14 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Indiana Chiefs 14U went up for good in the first, scoring four runs on an RBI double by Justin Ruthrauff and three singles.

After posting two runs in the first, Illinois Edge Elite again scored two in the second. In the first, Illinois Edge Elite scored on an RBI triple by McEachern, plating Steinbach.

GAME #8 (CHAMPIONSHIP)

NWI Shockers Blue didn't put up much of a fight on Sunday, as Indiana Chiefs 14U cruised to a blowout 10-2 win in five innings at Portage, IN.

Evan Hylek racked up five RBIs on two hits for Indiana Chiefs 14U. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the fifth inning.

Jason Lamont got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out four, walked one and surrendered five hits.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Indiana Chiefs 14U scored two runs on an error and an RBI single by Mike Madura.

Indiana Chiefs 14U increased its lead with two runs in the second. Hylek kicked things off with a single, bringing home Pat Manyek.

After a quick strike from NWI Shockers Blue, Indiana Chiefs 14U responded with one run in the fourth. Indiana Chiefs 14U scored on a sacrifice fly by Hylek.

Indiana Chiefs 14U added five more runs in the bottom of the fifth. The inning got off to a hot start when Justin Ruthrauff doubled, scoring Mike Popp and Chris Manyek. That was followed up by Hylek's triple, bringing home Will Kulcher, Nick Bandura and Troy Mead.
