Hammond’s Howard earns league honor
The New York-Penn League named Hammond’s Trent Howard its pitcher of the week after he pitched 11 scoreless innings during two appearances in seven days. Howard went 1-0 for the Aberdeen IronBirds, giving up four hits and four walks while striking out 15 batters. Selected in the seventh round of the 2011 draft out of University of Central Michigan, Howard has gone 2-1 with a 2.30 ERA in eight appearances this season.
