Indiana Chiefs Baseball Fall Long Toss Program & Instruction
Dear Players and Parents
The Indiana Chiefs of Hammond Baseball Club would like to thank you for signing up to participate in our fall long toss throwing and baseball instruction program.
The program is designed to develop proper throwing mechanics along with developing arm strength. In addition, each Sunday, players will be instructed in baseball skills development. This will include fielding, hitting, base running, and individual position play.
Please note that due to the Labor Day weekend, we have adjusted the starting day of the program. Originally we were going to start on Sunday, September 2nd. Many players who signed up, indicated that they were not available to start that day due to the holiday weekend. Therefore, we will now be starting the program on Sunday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m. The program will run 3 days per week on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. All Sundays will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be from 5-7 p.m. Below is the schedule.
September 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25, 27, 30, October 2, 4, 7, 9, 11, 14, 16, 18.
The program is a 6 week program. September 9th will be a player instruction and evaluation day. All players are asked to attend at 1:00 on September 9th. After September 9th, players will have their individual instruction program.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays players will have from 5-7 p.m. to complete their program. The program will not take 2 hours. This is the window that players will have to get their program done. Most players will take about 40 minutes to get the program done. Once a player has completed the program, they are free to go.
On Sundays player will do their individual program and after completing their program, all players will be instructed on a baseball fundamental skill. Each Sunday will focus on a different skill. Ideally we would like all players to try and arrive at 1:00 p.m. on Sundays.
All days will be instructed by coaches from the Indiana Chiefs Baseball Club. Current Chief players will also be used to demonstrate different baseball skills.
If there is a rainout or a question about a session being cancelled due to weather, players and parents can go to the Chiefs web site, which is hammondchiefs.com and look under cancellations. You can also call the Chiefs message line at 219-852-9461 to find out if a session is cancelled. We will always have the information for a cancellation posted at least 1 hour prior to the starting time of a session.
Thanks again for being a member of our fall program. If you have any questions please call the above number. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday, September 9th at 1:00 p.m.
Coach Dave Sutkowski,
