Indiana Chiefs 14U loses 8-4 to NWI Shockers Blue
Nick Bandura did all he could to give Indiana Chiefs 14U a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past NWI Shockers Blue, as Indiana Chiefs 14U lost 8-4 in seven innings at Riverside Park on Saturday.
Indiana Chiefs 14U was led by Bandura’s hitting. Bandura went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the sixth and seventh innings.
Ray Vogel recorded the win for NWI Shockers Blue. He allowed one run over four innings. Vogel struck out six, walked three and gave up two hits.
NWI Shockers Blue was sparked by Tyler Brent and Ryan Missal, who teamed up for four hits and four RBIs.
The game was never in doubt after the second, as NWI Shockers Blue scored one run on an RBI double by Erik Lakomek.
NWI Shockers Blue posted one run in each of the third, fourth and seventh. In the third, NWI Shockers Blue scored on an error, plating Brent.
NWI Shockers Blue scored two runs in the fifth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the sixth. In the fifth, NWI Shockers Blue scored on a solo home run by Missal.
Indiana Chiefs 14U scored one run in the bottom of the fifth to cut its deficit to four. An RBI single by Mike Madura fueled Indiana Chiefs 14U’s comeback. Finally, Ryan Davidson got Will Kulcher to strike out to end the threat.
Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Indiana Chiefs 14U close its deficit to 7-3. A walk by Mike Popp and a passed ball gave Indiana Chiefs 14U life. The Indiana Chiefs 14U threat came to an end when Davidson finally got Chris Manyek to ground out.
A one-run seventh inning helped bring Indiana Chiefs 14U within four. A groundout by Justin Ruthrauff triggered Indiana Chiefs 14U’s comeback. The game went final when Alex Dobrzeniecki grounded out.
