Indiana Chiefs of Hammond Fall Long Toss Throwing Program & Baseball Instruction

The Indiana Chiefs of Hammond will be offering a fall long toss throwing program with baseball instruction at Riverside Park in Hammond. The program will be offered 3 days per week. (Tuesday’s and Thursday’s 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Sunday’s 1:00-3:00 p.m.) The long toss program will focus on proper throwing mechanics and arm strengthening. Players will be monitored and charted on a daily basis 3 times per week. The Tuesday and Thursday sessions will focus strictly on the long toss throwing program. On Sunday’s, in addition to the long toss program, there will also be an instruction period covering different areas of the game. Pitching, individual position play, hitting, bunting, and base running will be covered. Each Sunday will focus on instruction in a different area of the game along with the normal long toss throwing program.

The long toss program will begin on Tuesday, September 3 and will conclude on Sunday, October 13. The program is basically 6 weeks long, 3 days per week. Players age 10-18 (as of May 1, 2014) are eligible to participate. Players will be grouped with players of their own age for instruction purposes.

Registration is limited to the first 50 players that sign-up. Players must register for the program on-line at the Chiefs web site hammondchiefs.com. Registration will be open from August 15-31.

The cost is $75 for Hammond residents and $100 for all other area players. Instruction will be provided by professional style coaches and members of the Indiana Chiefs of Hammond coaching staff. There will be a player / parent meeting on Sunday, September 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Riverside Park in Hammond to discuss the program and all registration fees must be paid at this time.
