Chiefs Win Two at Pastime Tournament in Indy

The Hammond Chiefs defeated the Saint Louis Recruits by a score of 8 – 0 in game one of the Pastime/Indianapolis Bulls tournament.  Mike Poulos (Munster) tossed a one a hitter for the Chiefs.  The Munster Junior right hander had 6 strikeouts and no walks to lead the Chiefs to the five inning victory.  Leading the offense for the Chiefs in game one was Josh VanBeek (Illiana Christian) who drove in two runs on a single.  Jimmy Skiff (Andrean), and Chris Slivka (Munster) chipped in with a single and rbi each.

In Game Two, the Chiefs defeated the Northview Summer Knights by the same score of 8-0 in five innings.  Danny Pobereyko (Bishop Noll) tossed the five inning no-hitter to lead the Chiefs to victory.  Kyle Buikema (Griffith) led the Chiefs offense with two hits and two rbi.  Tyler Sroczynski (Illinois Chirstian) was 2 for 3, Alex DelRio (Munster) was 2 for 3 with an rbi, and Chris Slivka (Munster) also tripled with an rbi.

The Chiefs return to play tomorrow at 1:30 against the Indiana Pony Express.
