Porter County Storm Defeat 17U Indiana Chiefs With Five Run 4th Inning

In baseball, the team with the biggest inning in a game wins a large majority of the time and that is exactly what happened Tuesday night at beautiful Riverside Park in Hammond. 5 hits, including 2 doubles, a walk and an error led to the Storm’s 5-run 5th inning. They would tack on a single insurance run in the 7th. Trailing 6-3 heading into their final at-bats, the Chiefs’ were poised to mount a comeback. The 17U Chiefs scored a run but then left the bases loaded to end the game. Cullan Carey (1-1, Andrean) took the loss in his 4 innings of work. Highland student-athlete Clay Keltner (1-0) kept the Chiefs in the game allowing one run in the final 3 innings. The only two hits of the game for the Indiana Chiefs were infield singles by Jaylen Yarbrough (Bishop Noll) and Matt Dvorscak (Whiting). Corey Rusboldt (Chesterton) swiped two bags and Alec Skalka (Munster) was 0-0 with 2 walks, 2 runs and a HBP.
