Chiefs Split games in WWBA World Championships in Fort Myers, Florida
The Chiefs opened up WWBA World Championships with pool play games against the Northern Virginia Patriots and the Cleveland Indians Scout team. Game one was against the Patriots at Dunbar High School. The Chiefs were able to jump out to a 7-0 lead and hold on for a 7-2 victory. Danny DeBoer started on the mound for the chiefs and tossed 5 innings of shutout baseball. The Lowell product hit 88 mph on the radar gun. Offensively the Chiefs were led by Tyler Fraley (Highland) and Jesse Smith (Griffith) with two hits apiece. Blaize Borovich (Crown Point) started the Indians scoring with big two out double to deep left center field.
In game #2 the Chiefs fell 5-0 to Cleveland Indians Scout team at the Cape Coral Sports Complex. Jesse Smith (Griffith) continued his hot bat with two more hits for the Chiefs. Great plays and pitching stiffled the Chiefs two chances of scoring as the Chiefs had a player thrown out at the plate, and could not muster a run after putting the first two hitters on base in the fifth inning.
Jesse Smith (Griffith) has had the hot bat for the Chiefs going 4 for 4 at the plate with a double in two games.
The Chiefs return to Pool Play today at 4:00 pm at the Boston Red Sox 5-Plex. The Chiefs play the Cardinals from West Cobb.
