Seminoles go 2-3 in Louisville Tournament
Louisville – Sunday
In their final game at the Pastimes Louisville 17U Showcase, the Hammond Seminoles (9-11) got a getaway day win when they defeated the Suburban Spartans 3-0. Jimmy Skiff (Andrean, W, 5 innings, 5 strikeouts, 1 walk, 5 singles) and Brandon Roeske (Chesterton, SV, 2 innings, 4 strikeouts, 3 walks, 1 hit) combined to throw the shutout. The shutout was aided by great defense with Skiff picking off a runner in a bases loaded jam, Matt Dvorscak (Whiting, RF) hitting a cutoff man for a double play, and Corey Rusboldt (Chesterton, SS) making a 2 out, 2 on diving stop and throw up the middle in a 2-0 game in the 5th inning on what appeared to be a clean single. Brandon Garcia (Griffith), celebrating his birthday on Sunday, delivered the games’ biggest blow with a 2-run double in the 4th inning. Angel Figueroa (Bishop Noll) had 2 hits including a double and David Hladek (Munster) was 1-1 with a walk and a run scored. The Seminoles finished the showcase with a 2-3 mark.
