Chiefs Advance to Title Game

The Hammond Chiefs advanced to the title game of the Triton College Classic with two wins. The Chiefs captured game one by the score of 3-0 over the Lombard Lightning. In game two, the Chiefs revenged an earlier loss by defeating the Athletic Barn by a score of 11-0. Game one saw Nick Nauracy (Crown Point) hammer out two hits and score two runs and Aveeno Nasiloski (Hammond Gavit) driving in a run for the Chiefs. Cody Dykema (Lake Central) also belted a double for the Chiefs. On the hill, Eric Rodriguez (Bishop Noll) picket up his third win of the season, tossing 4 and a third innings of shutout baseball. Rodriguez added four strikouts and five walks. Aveeno Nasiloski, the came to mound to pick up a save for the Chiefs. Nasiloski tossed two and two thirds inning of no hit relief. Game two saw the Chiefs jump out to a 4-0 lead and then put seven runs on the board during the top of the seventh to put the game away. Zach Goldasich (Andrean) had a day for the Chiefs. Goldasich was three for four at the plate with two doubles, 4 RBI, and two runs. He also came on in relief and picked up the save on the bump. Elliot Bajda (Whiting) also chipped in offensively with a double, an RBI, and a two runs. Brandon Valentine (Hammond Morton) picked up his third win of the season by tossing four and one third innings of shutout baseball.Valentine added four strikeouts and four walks. Chiefs return to Triton today to play the Norwood Blues in the Championship of the Triton College Classic. Hammond improves to 28-14 on the season.
